Shower Doors & Custom Glass in Northbrook

Northbrook is one of our home markets — we're a short drive away and we work here constantly. The bathrooms are usually generous, the remodel budgets are real, and the design intent is high. Most Northbrook installs end up using ½-inch low-iron glass and custom hardware because the rest of the bathroom deserves it.

Why Local Matters

Northbrook is where we build our most ambitious enclosures

Northbrook primary baths are routinely 200+ square feet. Showers are big enough for two, with linear drains, built-in benches, dual rain heads, niches in three walls. The glass we install in those spaces is rarely a single-panel job — it's usually three or four panels, sometimes with a transom, often curbless with continuous floor channel.

The fabrication side has to be just as careful. ½-inch low-iron glass weighs serious pounds per square foot; the hardware has to be rated, the wall blocking has to be reinforced, and the geometry has to be planned at the framing stage. We're often on a Northbrook job site three times — once to consult with the GC at framing, once to measure after tile, once to install.

Project 01

Curbless walk-in with linear drain, Indian Ridge estate

A custom home off Sunset Ridge Road had a primary bath we genuinely didn't want to leave. Shower zone was 8×5, curbless, with a linear drain at the wall. Single ½″ low-iron frameless panel from floor to 9-foot ceiling, continuous polished-chrome floor channel, no door. The room felt 50% larger because there was no visual interruption.

Project 02

Three-panel frameless enclosure, Crestwood remodel

A 1962 ranch off Walters Avenue had been gutted and rebuilt as a contemporary primary suite. Shower was 6×4 with a hinged door, fixed inline, and 90-degree return. ½″ low-iron throughout, satin-brass hardware to match the rest of the fixtures.

Project 03

Steam enclosure with transom, Mission Hills townhome

A 2012 townhome off Mission Hills Road had a dedicated steam shower with high ceilings. Full ½″ frameless steam enclosure with sealed transom panel above the door, continuous gasketing, polished-chrome hardware.

Trends

What's defining Northbrook bathrooms in 2026

Three trends define Northbrook installs right now. Curbless walk-ins with floor-to-ceiling panels and no doors — visually arresting and increasingly common. Low-iron ½-inch glass as the default for any premium install. Custom-finished hardware (satin brass, aged brass, custom-blackened bronze) replacing stock matte black on the most considered projects.

If you're trying to decide between semi-frameless and fully frameless, our comparison guide covers the trade-offs at every price point.

FAQs

Northbrook shower-door questions

Do you work with design-build firms in Northbrook?

Yes — many of our Northbrook projects come through GCs and designers. We coordinate measure and install around the rest of the trades.

Can you do a fully curbless wet room?

Yes — we install many curbless layouts in Northbrook. The drain detail and waterproofing are handled by your tile setter; we install the glass on top.

How tall can a single frameless panel go?

Standard fabrication to 96 inches; taller is possible with custom engineering. Several Northbrook installs run to 108 inches with concealed ceiling clips.

Do you fabricate custom-colored hardware?

We work with several finishing partners for custom blackened bronze and satin-brass treatments. Lead time is longer (4-5 weeks) but the result is one-of-a-kind.
